Today's Visitors

Today, two of my good friends came to visit Caden and I. We had such a great time. Nikki, Amanda and I went to middle and high school together. We've pretty much always been friends. We cheered together in middle and high school.

Our visit consisted of talking. We talked non stop for 2 1/2 hours straight. That's what you do when you rarely get to see one another. I love to talk. I hated to see them leave. Caden also got to meet one of his new buddies, Jarrett. Jarrett is Amanda and Trey's little boy who was born in January.

Thanks guys for driving all the way to Durham to see us. Caden told me he missed you when you left.

One Month Old.

Almost two weeks ago we went to Wal-Mart for Caden's one month photo in attempt to get a really cute shot with the backgrounds they have there. We tried to plan it perfectly. One of Caden's best times is in the morning after he's fed. So, we went to Wal-Mart to feed him in the parking and take him straight in to get his picture made. We did this to prevent him falling asleep in his carseat on the way. Our plans didn't quite work out the way we had hoped.

So on to plan B. At the hospital, my step-dad Ken presented us with a Nikon D-80 camera. So nice. So we decided to take Caden's portrait with that. It turned out beautifully.

Dr. Zimmerman

Our second day back at home was filled with lots of doctor appointments.

In the morning we went for a visit to our pediatrician for a weight check. At birth, Caden weighed 8lbs. 5 oz. and was 20 3/4 inches long. At 5 weeks old, he now weighs 10lbs. 8 oz. and is 22 inches long. Oh how fast he has grown. Each day he gets meatier and meatier. I love it. It's more for me to kiss.

So in the afternoon it was time for Mommy's six week checkup. Mommy is good to go too! We had the priviledge of visiting with Dr. Zimmerman, the doctor who delivered Caden, also our most fav doctor in the world. He is such a joy. Since we missed getting a picture of he and Caden at the hospital we were able to get one on Monday.

Mylie Turns 2!

One of our favorite little girls, Mylie Kiefer had her 2nd birthday party this Saturday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MYLIE! It was Caden's first birthday party. Although he was unable to enjoy cupcakes with everyone, he was able to see his two friends Mylie and Charlie. I wanted so bad to get a picture of them three together because I know they will always be great friends. Here are some funny shots. You never know what you'll get while taking a picture of a 2 year old, 7 month old, and 5 week old.

For Mylie's gift Jason and I thought she would love a Cinderella doll that sings while you comb her hair!

Chris and Anne come for a visit!

On Saturday, Caden got to meet my friend Anne for the first time. It was so special for her and the new hubby to drop by and meet our little man. Here is a sweet pic of them!

Hanging with the Delaney's

Remember me saying in the previous blog we were gone for three weeks...the last two were spent in Kinston. Yes, Caden is a state traveler already. With Jason and I as his parents it's inevitable.

We had the priviledge of staying with the Delaney's. A family we love so much. We spent two weeks in Kinston to finish up visiting partners we were unable to see before Caden was born. It was really neat to introduce Caden to so many people for the first time who loved him and prayed for him even before he was born. In Caden's first month of life, he has probably meet around 200 people. Everyone's new to him. He did really well though. A perfect little angel each time we entered a new home for visiting. He was the main attraction with each family.

We did other things while in Kinston too. We ate at our fav restaurant, Pizza Villa, at least twice. I also got a Hawaiian shaved ice as much as possible. I love those things. Haven't found them yet in Durham. We visited our family whenever we had a spare moment. It will be a couple of months before we are able to head back in town so we wanted to see them tons. The last Thursday we were there Jason went to King's Dominion with Dale Delaney for his birthday(the Delaney's 14 year old son). They had a blast. Those two are great friends.

I walked a lot with Mrs. Susan in the morning. While we were on one of our walks Rachel watched over Caden. Here's a sweet picture of them. Caden loves his Rachel.

We love the Delaney's. Some of our favorite people.

1st Beach Trip

Almost 1 month ago, on Caden's 2 week birthday, we left for a 3 week venture to Emerald Isle and Kinston, NC. The first week we stayed in Emerald Isle with Gigi and Papa. You know they were thrilled to have the three of us there. Shane, Kenneth and Alex were missing though. Shane and Kenneth came later on in the week. Mom loves her biddies under her wings. What a wonderful and relaxing time it was.

Definitely a beach trip like I've never had before...Welcome to motherhood. 100% of the time I would pick being a mommy rather than a beach bum. Funny how our expectations are so off at times. Feeding a newborn and being sandy doesn't work out too well. My mom begged me to go to the beach and enjoy myself while she watched Caden. I only took her up on that one day. Only because I found out it was much easier to stay inside and stay clean rather than beaching it for one hour and then cleaning up to feed Caden again. Also I might mention my harmons are not quite back to normal yet. I pour sweat at the drop of a hat. As we packed to leave Durham and head to the coast I thought, "yes, these lilly white legs will finally get a tan." Little did I know that I would only be a half shade darker a week later. I am still prancing around in my shorts though. I have decided who cares. What a great thing to watch my priorities change before very my eyes for the better.

Since Caden cannot wear sunscreen yet, we never go out into the sun with him. We want to protect his beautiful little skin. We did sneak him out really fast to get a family picture with the ocean in the background. He snoozed the entire time.
Thank you to my family for taking care of us for the entire week. You guys are such great parents and caretakers.
